I used a 139gr SST on a mule deer doe last fall. I was really hoping it would be 'the' bullet as it shot very well on paper. Velocity was 3043 fps. The shot was quartering on at 125 yds. Entry in front of the onside front shoulder and exit behind the offside. Exit wound was slightly smaller than a baseball, with lots of bloodshot meat. No heavy bone was hit. I guess I have 300 target bullets now. I'm trying a Barnes 120 gr. TSX this year. - Denny

I'd say they work pretty good based on the picture. He shot that thar antelope in the ear and it kilt it dead. Pretty impressive if you ask me ;o).
I bought a bunch of 180 grain SST seconds and couldn't get them to shoot under 2" in two custom .30-06 rifles. They were just tarnished, nothing else according to Hornady. I am a Hornady slut and just love the plain vanilla flat base spire points in 150 and 165. Never a complaint and lots of elk and deer have croaked with them from my rifles. Flinch

Ive used SST in both my 243 and 7mm-08, VERY accurate bullet, somewhat explosive but penetration seemed adequate. I have since gone unleaded in my hunting bullets but I dont have any serious complaints about the SST. They were more accurate than NBT in both of my guns.
