Does anyone know the weight of the Savage Model 10 action ? My son has a .243 Savage youth which he has outgrown...
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Are you asking without the bbl on it no wood ect, just the action?
accuracy and efficiency -- not to mention having the best, most durable and advanced rifle possible."

Has he outgrown the caliber or the stock? Becuase you could just buy a new full size Savage stock for his gun and save some cash if he's happy with the .243. Midway USA carries Savage factory stocks for a reasonable price, and you can get them used on Ebay for under $50 usually. Also, you could rebarrel that gun pretty easily and relatively cheaply. Check out these sights for barrels and how to change them on Savage 110. http://www.savageparts.com/barrels.htmlhttp://www.switchbarrel.com/Savage%20FAQ.htm

Thanks guys,
I think both of you a reading my mind. With my son approaching the six foot mark he has outgrown the stock. So, now I've got a Savage that I can start switching barrels on and experimenting with (Big grin here!).
Savparts,
I'm wondering about the weight of the action alone (with bolt), no barrel, no wood, no bottom medal, etc. Thanks
BBOtter,
Thanks for the mention of e-bay. I hadn't thought of that one. I have been browsing throught the Midway stuff.

I should also say that www.savageparts.com has stocks as well. That's Savparts' site, but he might be too modest to plug himself. I, however, will do it wholeheartedly. He's got everything you need over there for Savage 110s, and has been both very helpful and prompt every time I've bought things from his site. If you're considering buying a new barrel, you should definitely check out his site. He has FACTORY Savage barrels for the same price as Midway has on their Adams and Bennett Savage 110 barrels. I've heard mixed reviews on the Adams and Bennett barrels, but Savage obviously does something right at the factory to have such consistent accuracy out of the box. If you going to give $120-160 one way or the other, I know I would prefer a factory barrel.

BBotter,
Thank you. I didn't know that, when I do get decide to order (sometime, after paying the annual tax contribution) I will be looking him up. Thanks. When I read your post this morning, I was in a hurry, with the wife waiting and didn't really "see" the links below the text. That's the usual results from rushing...
Savparts, I'm glad to know this -. Just as soon have you getting my money. When I saw your screen name a little light did come on in my head. I guess it just didn't burn bright enough for me to make the connection. They tell me its an age thing and to expect more of it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ...
