I have a confession to make. I love to shoot. I mean I love the sounds, the smells, the feel of the rifle against my cheek, and yes, I even love the recoil. I have a collection of shells from the different guns I have fired and would like some help in getting it expanded. I am in the Navy so just because I don't live near you now doesn't mean I won't ever be near you. I am from Oklahoma and have family in TX and AK. I would really like to add some of the really big rounds to my collection. Right now the only real thumpers I have in my collection are the .404 Jeffery and the .375 H&H Mag. In pistol I have most of the large rounds except for the .500 S&W and the Linebaugh offerings. I have read many safari hunting books, love Capstick and Hemingway, and can hardly wait to get over there myself. In the meantime I would love to find as many people as I can that share my insanity and would like to get together and shoot. I have just about all of the common rounds, and many uncommon ones. But I don't mind repeating. I am willing to help share the cost of any shooting, especially of the larger rounds. I have several guns that I will reciprocate with. Anyone that comes to shoot can fire my .30-'06, .308, .338 win mag, .45 ACP and the thumper of the pistols the .454 Casull. Anyway enough talking. Please contact me if you also love to shoot. I would love to talk guns, golf, planes, and anything Navy. Thank you for your time and God Bless.

Navyhunter,

Howdy and welcome to the campfire. I spent 7 years as a Nuc EM. Just wasn't for me, although I tell everyone that my job in the Navy was probably the best job I'll ever have in my entire life. I really enjoyed the day to day divirsity.

Where are you stationed now? Afraid I cannot help you much on the big boomers, I go as big as a 300 Weatherby, although someday hope to own 375 H&H.

Enjoy your time and again ... welcome to the campfire. Pull up a log, sit awhile, and get warm!

Navyhunter,

If you are ever in MI, get hold of me, by all means. I can accomodate you with more med and big bore rifles than you can shoot in an afternoon. I guarantee I can put a <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> on your face...the9.3Guy

When you get back to OK let me know I belong to the local gun club and will take you when ever you want. I don't have a lot of large caliber rifle's but what I do have you are more than welcome to shoot. Also my brother is in the Navy right now in Norfolk, so my best wishes for you and yours.

Right now I'm still in Charleston, SC. In Feb I leave for Groton, CT for the submarine officers basic course. Then maybe to Norfolk, VA. I may be heading to Houston, Corpus Christi, and Oklahoma City in the next few months. If you I'd love to get together with as many as I can and shoot. By the way Avagadro ( I knew that name sounded smart for a gun guy) I haven't shot the Weatherby and would love to. My shell collection (only of guns I've shot) needs a Wby. I just recently shot the .300 Ultra Mag (thanks Charlie) and think it's awesome. Bray, I'll definately be coming to OKC in the spring/summer timeframe to see my folks. Let's get together.

Drop me an email if you are ever down this way and we can go to the local range here and you can shoot. I have a few rfles you might be interested in.

How far are you from Corpus Christi? I'd love to shoot with you. If it's not too far I might be able to make it over.

If you get assigned to Norfolk, drop me an email through this forum. I've got a good feel for what's available here in the Tidewater, and can also put you onto some decent deer hunting.

I definately will. I expect to get orders in early Feb. It could be earlier, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'd sure appreciate whatever info you could give me.

I should be in OKC in June-ish. What do you have and where exactly are you?

Enjoyed the range time we had. As said before, we will have to do it again before you leave area. I am still cleaning guns at present. Still have two to go. Then I need to do some reloading.

I enjoyed it too. I would like to do it again. I had to run out and get some supplies, so I'm not quite done yet either.
