I "think" you can call Remington directly and they will be able to give you a date from your serial number.
I wish it was like Ruger's setup. Just go to the website and look it up.
They will, but they will give you the date the rifle was put together, not necessarily the date the serially numbered receiver was made.
I can't prove that so y'all are welcome to correct me. But the reason I think this is that Remington replaced a recently manufactured rifle I had returned with one that had a much earlier prefix and two holes factory drilled for a receiver sight. They haven't done that in years.
Remington customer service told me the rifle was made in the late 90's (forget the exact date but it was the year this replacement was sent to me) but the serial number placed the receiver as being made in the 70's. I think it had been sitting around for a while when they put together a new rifle to replace the POS that I returned.
