Looking for tried and true methods of sticking a thermarest to a BA seedhouse floor and sticking my sleeping bag to the thermarest.
I read somewhere about mixing silicone and mehtyl hydrate to a thick consistency and painting it on both sides of the thermarest. What say ye back country hunters?RB

yep you can paint a big X on it or a zzzzzzzzz pattern up and down it.

or you can get rolls of that rubbery mesh looking stuff and sew some velcro to it, make a sleeve for back and foot area and your bag will stay pretty well put.

Six Moons Designs website recommends Mineral Spirits and Silicone caulk in a 50/50 mix. Same as the DIY seam sealer.

I"ve done the mineral spirits pure silicone mix. Makes it real tacky, just do a pattern on it. Guess thats a plus of a bivy though.. slip the pad in, then the bag... Never thought of the pad inside the bag, though don't see why that wouldn't work either, just different.

Thats always worked well for me. I even got a wide bag so it would be more room.

I put my pad in my bivy, and it hasn't escaped yet.

This tip is pretty useless however, for those who don't use bivy's. Sorry.

So, why couldn't you just run your caulk gun in a S pattern down your thermarest and then flatten the bead out a little with a popcicle stick? Does this method make it to tacky?

Seam sealer in some sort of x pattern. Add a little at first, then more as needed to desired effect.

I think I jut remedied this by purchasing an Equinox ultralite bivy. More of a bag cover actually. Weighs 7ozs. I used it last weekend with my Big Agnes Insulated Air Core mummy pad and my TNF Cat's Meow bag. it worked good. It cost 65 bucks and has a 3/4 length zipper.
