The stock was painted by my gunsmith, it's basically blackish/gray with a gray webbing finish.
I moly coat using the tumbler with BB's method...works for me.

Thanks! I'll have to pick up some BB's. So far I've had pretty good results just letting the bullets impact the moly to each other. For some reason, I could not get the noly to stick worth a darn to Nosler BTs?? Same precedure (degrease, pat dry with paper towel, and throw into a can with moly) worked well for Sierras, Barnes, and Hornadies. I'm thinking of tumbling them for a few min. in corn cob then starting the above process.

Troy and Stick - So you haven't had problems with the moly attracting moisture, etc., etc., that so many guys at other forums have squawked about?

If water hurt moly,I'd have to [bleep] EVERY one of my rifles.
I cain't speak for anyone but myself, but all my barrels are using moly and we even get some rain here now and again.................(grin)

I know most clean freaks don't like it as it takes forever and a day to remove it completely from your barrel. But I say, huh, clean your barrel? What the hell for? You don't want to clean the X's out of her do you? We certainly don't get the rain down here like 'Stick's neighborhood, so if he likes it there you go. Also, lot's of people complain about fouling from shooting pure copper bullets. Moly will help that problem, at least in my experience. I've coated bullets with the BB's and also the spray can. Although you can waste a fair amount with the spray. Good luck, Troy

I'm 35 pokes away from having run 1000rds through my ROCK-ish 223AI,less as much as a patch for maintenance.
Needless to say,it's seen it's share of inclement weather since shot #1 of that particular excersize. It is still hanging them in there,as one would suspect from a rifle of it's pedigree.
I'm a FIRM believer in moly....................

Spike,
Those lightweight .338 bullets might make an interesting Mt Goat bullet. Could stretch out a plain ol'338 Win Mag a few more yards?

Spike, what load data do you have to use for the XXX's? Can you use an old barnes manual or do you have to get a new one? Also any reson you picked the 185's over the 225's in the 338? I noticed the BC/SD for the 225's is higher. tom
