If it has the original percussion cap set up, try a knight sabot, and 300 grain hornady xtp. 3 of us had the remington's, and all of them liked that. I was begged into selling mine to a buddy, and am sorry I did. Once I put the 209 primer conversion in it, it was much less accurate, but did go off everytime. I had some percussion cap issues, but think it was just bad caps. Now they have the reduced 209's just for muzzleloaders, and think that in my rifle, shooting regular 209's was the culprit. I'm now shooting a knight disc extreme, and it is no easier to clean than the remington. If it is the cap model, you may want to put some black tape above the nipple area on your scope, as if you don't, your scope will get residue on it. Good luck.

I have a 54cal version and I replaced the #11 cap nipple with a musket cap nipple and it shoots great. It has always gone bang so I never bothered with the 209 conversion. I use T/C Breakaway Sabots with a 240gr Hornady XTP for deer and 348gr Powerbelts for elk. You'll have to do a little load work-up similar to a centerfire but at 5gr incremements. I still use Pyrodex Select BP substitute. Once it is used up though, I'll try one of the new easy cleaning powders.

The one draw back of the 700ML is the cleaning can be a PITA. Whatever you do, do not put off a complete cleaning after every shooting session. If you're hunting and shoot at an animal and are continuing to hunt the next day, then clean it that night. Make sure to take the bolt apart too.

Yes exactly what he said.
I have the same gun in SS and I also did the 209 conversion, I'm shooting 250 grain Barnes MZ's with 150 grains of pyro and at 100 yds they all touch.
Recoil is a MoFo though, you can try 100 grains of pyro too as it shot just as well for me.
Mines scoped with a Leupold 3.5x10 sitting in DD's.
I got pics of my groups if you need.

Yes, take the bolt apart and clean frequently... that's where the problems are with the gun.

Wonderfully accurate rifles, but as previously stated, a PITA to clean! Mine loved two 50gr 777 pellets behind saboted Hornady 240gr XTP pistol bullets.
