Do you have a set of bases for it? If not, let me know. Pretty sure that I have an extra set that I can send to you after the 20th.

BTB,
Nice rifle you got there. And a 300 Savage chamber to boot. Better than the 308 if you shoot from a bench much. While that sling stud looks ugly where it is, it'll be nice to sling your rifle while dragging a WT out of the woods. I have a 300 F set up just like it, not my doin' and it doesn't look pretty. No hole in the fore end though, that's nice.

Thanks for the offer RAS, but I have some mounts (they were included with the rifle purchase).
Well, I got the K4 mounted, but not without some difficulty. I went to mount the K4 last night and it seemed like the mounts weren't quite level with each other, which would cause the scope to have binding pressure when locked down in the rings. I know they are the right mounts. It seems like the back mount is pitched front to back a little too much (ie, if the scope was mounted only in the back ring, the scope would point on a line up and away from the muzzle). I ended up lapping the rear ring enough to take some of the front edge down so the scope wouldn't bind so much. It looks great with the scope, but I'm not sure how long I'll keep it that way. The scope definitely takes some away from its "feather weight", quick-handling qualities. On that vein, does anyone have an idea where I might find some scope mount plug screws? TNbigbore is checking to see if he has any, but I thought I'd check here as well. Thanks for everyone's kind comments.

If they are Weaver base's, they should be numbers 14 and 19.

Congrats on finding this planet's best deer killin' machine in primo condition Are you using 2-piece or 1-piece mounts with the K4? Sounded like 2 piece in your last post. I'm curious which you're using. dh

I'm using weaver brand two-piece bases numbers 14 and 19. I'll check out gunbroker for some filler screws. Are there special Savage only ones, or are they general 8-40 type screws? Also, what loads are you guys using in your 300 savages? I've got some IMR 3031 and 150 grain spire points that are just waiting to get loaded up.

Try the 3031 or IMR4895/H4895 or the RE 15. Work up to book max's of course.

I had the same problem with one of my F's with the rear scope base being very slightly tipped back.A good lapping job on the rings did the trick, no binding at all.I have an old Weaver K3 on one and it just goes with that rifle. On another I have an older M8 Leupold 4X with the 28mm objective and it balances fine also. Nice rifle!!!
