HI going to load 225g nosler partion in my 358 win - 99 savage-- wondering if differts hodgdon 4895 or imr 4895?? wonder if diff?? any loads recomended?? Thanks--stay warm;)

IN my LIMITED use of both the difference isn't much more than you see in some same brand powder but different lots........I use more IMR powder and I wouldn't swap one for the other in a max load without trying a few lower loads first......some charts and in some loadings the H4895 is slightly faster than the IMR....but again not enough to hurt/help most uses........sorry don't have any loads for that cartridge.....hth..good luck and good shooting!!!

Hi OLE. Like Bigdaddy, I treat the two 4895's as the same powder, different lot #'s. I'd buy whichever is less $$ locally and be done with it.

The "H" version does have a little shorter grains, so, that can make a difference if you're getting short on powder room. "H" is also supposed to be a "temp-insensitive" powder, but, I've done no conclusive testing to prove or disprove it.

Steve's got some data at http://stevespages.com/358_7_225.html which jives pretty much with what Nosler's manual says; 42 - 47 grains should do ya' (I'd start at 42 grains, if it were me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />).
