Was at a gun show in Greater Metropolitan Elk City, Oklahoma today and prominately displayed on a vendor's table was a familiar photo of a familiar fellow hugging a big cat. I asked the guy for any details he could provide. He told me he got the picture at a gun show in Amarillo last week - and the fellow he got it from told him the hunter in the picture was 6' 2" and the cat weighed 280 lbs. (he had labeled the picture with both bits of factual data). He informed me that the cat was killed in Junction, Texas, and that the cat had been making a living killing sheep and goats - and that folks in those parts speculated that the cat had been raised by someone in order to get that big.
JJ, you're gonna be bigger than The Duke and twice as famous!

Heck no, it was killed in Arizona. I saw it at a local gunstore and there was a different face on the body holding that defunct pussy cat. Pretty neatly done too and the store owner "knew" the guy who had killed it and given him the picture.

I saw it on an "XXX" sight, with the Lion on top.............10
"Like with any House of Prostitution we ought to charge admission at the United Nations building"
"Even better, we should bulldoze it down and put a public shooting range in its place." "We'd be a safer country for it".

I was at the same show. Took 10 minutes. I've never seen used guns for $100 more than new--and some people buying them. Made for some funny moments though. I missed JJ's pic, but I had it emailed to me with the Texas story about 6 months ago. OKH

I've seen it on several other hunting sites. Ordinarily it is claimed to have been killed in ____________ state (fill in the blank. Then there is always some digital/optical/photographic computer "expert" who says, "I've examined that photo very, very carefully, and know it has been "tweaked" and is a fraud.
When I've listed the site for J.J's. story about the lion, they never post back that they were incorrect with their "expertise."
Last year at the Boise Sportsman's Show, a local taxidermist had a full body mount of one he shot in the Idaho Sawtooths, and it was damned near as big as J.J's. Nine feet nose to tail, and mighty big!
In the 2003 Fall and 2003 Spring issues of "Sportsmen For Wildlife" magazine, there are some pictures of several mountain lions killed in Utah, that were nearly as big.
And so it goes.
