Nobody seems to have one. Is Ruger holding off on this until after the Boddington 7X57 is released? Looking for one NIB.

Have you contacted Chuck Boggs out of West Virginia? He seems to have a knack for getting No. 1s and was able to get me a 1B in .257 Roberts when no one else had one.
Have you checked the No. 1 group on Yahoo! groups? They usually have a pretty good line on No. 1s of all stripes.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum. I do tend to fit in well wherever I go in person. The campfire is the most outside exposure I get. No TV, no newspaper.

I asked my dealer to get one for me last year. He picked up the phone and called Lipsey's who told them that they had only one left. Lucky for me it had interesting wood. Don't know if they have gotten any more simce then but, I haven't seen another one on anyones rack yet. Makes ya wonder.

the way it was explained to me was they have to change the machinery over in the factory to make the 7x57's and they only do this at certain times of the year-at least that is what I was told.

If that is the lightweight one with the 22" barrel, I saw one at a gun show about a week and a half ago. It wasn't new, but it was in VERY good condition, and although the wood was not highly figure, it was a real pretty piece. I think the asking price was $875 with sights and rings. The seller was out of southern Manitoba somewhere, but I can get you some contact information if you want it.

I can check the Canadian Tire store in Kenora for you on Sept 9th. I'll be there for court, and it's on the way.

I know Chuck and have bought several Rugers from him. If anyone can get a Ruger it is him. Thanks...Bill.

the 1-A was produced some years ago and there are some of those guns floating around and they are nice...The latest issue of 7x57s are available but I think they are in demand more than Ruger realized and production is behind..

Man, am I glad I picked up my 1-A 7x57 when I did! I snagged probably 7-8 years ago, and got it at a gun show of all places. I traded a Glock 26 9mm even for the gun, and cannot believe how much the prices have gone up. I've picked up several boxes of factory 140's, and even found some 140gr Partitions in Federal Premiums at one of the shows for $10 a box. Mine wears a Lupold M8 6x42, and its one of my favorite hunting rifles.
I would love to get a mannlicher No. 1 in 7x57, but not sure I can part with the asking price!

SakoAlberta,
I stopped in at the Canadian Tire store in Kenora today and asked them if they had a new or excellent used #1A in 7x57. No go. Said there is not much call for them.
They DID have one about a year ago, and I was tempted, but the wood wasn't all that nice.
There was a pretty nice #1 RSI in 308, but they're short and a tad heavy, and pretty pricey as well. I think it had a sticker on it at $1099.
Anyway, sorry I couldn't connect you. I even took a camera to get a pic of it in case it looked interesting. Keep trying . . . . one has to turn up.

Shootist,
I think that an #1 RSI in .308, IF factory original and in decent shape, would be a RARE item! That price, to a collector looking for one in good shape with box and papers, would be a no-brainer.
