Finally finished my 6mm Ackley carry gun. I havn't made it out to the range yet, but she will be broken in by weeks end. Here are the specs; - Remington M700 SA- lefty - Jewell HVR trigger - Custom cut barrel- 10 twist - BDL bottom - Wyatt extended mag box - Talley lightweight bases - 4.5-14x40mm VXIII w/ elevation turret - Bansner stock This gun comes in a hair over 7lbs with the scope. Hopefully it shoots like the heavy gun I have in the same caliber. I'll be shooting the 85 TSX for deer and the 87 grain Vmax for wolves and coyotes. There was frost on my roof this morning, predator season is close. Happiness is a 87 Vmax doing 3650 fps smacking a coyote on a calm frosty morning!!!

Thanks for the compliments guys.
The wyatts box allows 2.935 OAL Still probably too short for the VLD's out of the 6mm, but plenty long enough to get my bullets of choice out of the powder column.
The barrel is 25"
The paint job is my professional "rattle can" special, krylon fusion. I was going to send it to Rick, but thought I would give it a try. Time will tell how durable it is. I laid down a texture paint as a base, then the Krylon, then 4 coats of matte sealer.

I like the looks, and the balance point appears to be in the right area.
I might change one thing though. I'd have to have an AO on that scope, or run a side focus LR version like I have on my 308.

Longdraw,
Wonderful looking rig there, and I am glad to see that you share my love of hunting yotes and appreciate how the big 6's handle the yotes.
Personally I run a 6/06 quite a bit and I use the 75 VMax and 85 TSX combo, mainly cause the 75 VM's shot way better in my rig than the 87's. So you may wish to give the 75's a run as well if the 87's don't quite perk the way you wish.
Nice rig, bet you can't wait to call in some yotes and light em up...<g>
Well done!

Very nice (except for the bolt on the wrong side! What colour Krylon fusion? Looks kind of like stone... I think I would try to use the same colour, I really like that. John

Very nice (except for the bolt on the wrong side! What colour Krylon fusion? Looks kind of like stone... I think I would try to use the same colour, I really like that. John I laid down the krylon w/ texture (seems to be fine sand in the paint?) as a base. Then I used 3 colors of the krylon camo paint, beige, olive and brown. I just kept laying the 3 colors over each other until I got the look I liked. To get the stone look I used the same 3 colors and barely pushed on the nozzle to make it "splatter" out. Once all was dry I used 4 coats of the krylon matte sealer. The texture paint as a base gives a nice texture, and the paint and the sealer over the texture seems to have bonded the texture very well.

Sweet rig... I love me a big 6mm. Those 87s are hell on wheels, I love those bullets. They hammer on coyotes with the kind of authority usually reserved for the big 25. RE-22 is my go to powder with the 87s in the regular 6mm... I'd assume the AI would like it aswell.
