Last week I got a 25/06 that Mr. Coleman put together and went to shootin. 54.5-55.5gr. of RL22 was getting me arround 3200fps with 100gr. NBT. I ran out of time so I did not get to shoot the rest of the loads. I have them loaded up to 58.0gr. if it don't show sign of being to hot. Just wondering if anyone wants to talk about what kind of speed they are getting out of 24" barrels?

55.5 grains of RE-22 was running 100 grain SMKs and 100 grain NBTs at 3300 and some change a couple weeks ago out of my 24" Lilja barreled .25-06. 56.5 grains was too warm for my rifle... was losing primer pockets after only 2 loads.

In my Sendero with a 26" tube:

85's at 3600

100's at 3400, both with H-4350

115 Bergers at 3200 with H-4831sc

I get 3508fps with 100 TSX's in my 26" Tobler Match Grade barrel using 760. The 4350's were about 100-150fps slower.

I'm about .10 off the lands so I can't go a lot closer I don't guess. Would seating them deaper increase or decrease speed?

For the record I love the gun and 55.0gr. 22 got 4 shot 1.5 group at 300yrd. It might do better but I can't.

DDP how long is your OAL with the 100 grain NBT? I may just have to run mine a little slower. Mine is a Douglas barrel if that makes any difference.

Thanks for talking about this guys.

I shoot them about .005" off the lands. Not sure what my OAL is... doesn't matter anyway, chambers all vary.

Kaleb-I've run 25/06's with 23's, 24's and 26's on them.

For the 24" tube no doubt I wouldn't be looking for anything over 3300 and I pretty much always ran 7828 in them.

With the 26's I could push it to 3400 and I sure wouldn't run them to anymore than that.

55.0gr of R22 with a 100 gr Hornady SP gave 3308 fps avg, for 5 rds from my 24" douglas barrel and pressures similar to factory (about +1100 psi max recorded) @ 82F, according to my Pressure Trace. Going to 55.5gr R22, velocity jumped to ~ 3500 fps with pressures ~5K higher on the 1st shot, I pulled the rest.
I since settled on 54.5gr R22 as max, at just under 3300fps.

I've run 56 of RL-22 with Sierra 100 gr. BTSP's at 3,345. One gun runs the same load about 25 fps. slower, both have 24"in tubes. Bullets are .010 off the lands (both guns have very long throats).

Dober always has good advice on the 25/06 with 7828. I used to use it, but consolidated powders a bit. 7828 was always a great powder for the 25/06; I just never used it to satisfaction in anything else except one 243 with 100's, which bored me! (grins) I ran 7828 at 3,285 with SMK 100's and 100 gr, Sierra BTSP's FWIW; both were hard on pigs and a few deer a buddy used them on.

Thanks again. May just run it at 3200 this season and spend the extra time shooting my bow and ml.
