World tensions are getting worse by the day, Russia would like to re-kindle the cold-war, and we seemed to be bound and determined to put a half senile old man and a hockey mom in the highest office. Thats just great!

Yes, and a half arab Marxist would be a better choice? Get real.

Of course Chavez is making noise...oil prices are going down and he is totally dependent on oil income to support his internal policies and encourage other marxists in the region. The increase in world's commodity prices(grain, foodstuffs and metals) would cause him severe internal problems as he has instituted price controls and other methods. If oil prices were to drop into the $75 dollar a barrel range and other commodities prices were to remain where they are at or go higher his little Bolivarian socialist experiment would die a quick death.

Chavez is acting like a typical banana republic dictator and he has found a willing accomplice in Putin who is trying to improve Russia's situation at a time of perceived western vulnerability.

"half senile old man "?
I doubt that you know the man. Watch him a bit. When he is answering questions, 'off the cuff', his answers are sharp. Even if you or I don't agree with the answers.

Phil Phil, I often thought that if all leaders of every country had real experience in a shooting war there would be a lot fewer wars started -- these are the guys who know how bad it is and would try hardest to avoid war. Just sayin' that McCain was in a real shooting war, spent time as POW... I don't think he will lead your country into a war without thinking long and hard about it. I have seen no evidence that Obammy is able to think long and hard about anything -- the man is a walking sound bite. I've also seen McCain interviewed (i.e. no possibility of just reading a cleverly-crafted speech from a teleprompter like Obammy) and McCain is far from senile -- he has exhibited a quick sharp wit many times. 'Tis true that he is no friend of the gun owners, but Palin is better and if that "senile old man" is unable to serve out his term she will... As a watcher of American politics, I don't think McCain is the best his party could have put forward. However, I am totally amazed that Obammy is where he is! I do not understand how anybody can anybody look at his record and consider him a leader in any way... John

Chavez is every bit the thug a young Che was. It's painfully obvious that just like Che, Hugo has got a man crush on Fidel

I hear some Venezuelans are feeling like they are akin to Georgians, they might want us to go in and partition off a couple of independent states for them.

If you are concerned about the Russians and Chavez, you want McCain. Period. Amen! Even if we indeed went into war with McCain, we'd at least beat the shiit out of our enemies even if they did the same to us. The frikkin 'Magic negro' would probably invite them in to "talk" - and then capitulate - without firing a single shot!

The reason that's never been done is it open up the whole validity of state sponsored assassination of political leaders. Like sending in a Spetnatz team to what our president. Right now we only have nut jibs for presidential assassins, and they have a mixed record. I doubt the secret service want to have to deal with pros.
You think we have annoying security now. Wait until there's a state sponsored assassination attempt.

Chavez nationalized radio stations to silence the opposition. A classic Marxist move.

Kinda funny that Chavez would threaten to stop selling us oil. It would do much more damage to his country than to ours.

I think he's planning to sell to China. We aren't the only market any more, and China is building tankers. Unless we plan on a blockade, he'll probably be fine. There's a ready market for oil all over the world. Oil, like money, has no national loyalties.

Phil, if you're willing to let things fall where they might, then why make any political comments at all? Or register to vote? If you truly don't give a shirt, just plop yourself down in front of the tube and accept what they tell you on the "news." But don't cop the attitude that you're somehow superior because you think you're above it all. All that attitude shows is how far underneath it all you actually are.
