Can anyone on here give me some advice on what type of load I should use for deer hunting with my .41 mag?
Walk softly and carry a big bore!

The load I always carry in my Ruger is 21 grains of H110 under the Beartooth Bullets hard cast gc 250 grain LFN. This load has completely penetrated Muxk Ox at 80 yards.

I tend to favor cast bullets too. I have also had success with H110, but have had the best accuracy with Blue Dot loads. About 13 grains under a 210 gr jacketed bullet and 11.5 to 12 under a 270gr PB cast (Mountain Mold). These are safe in my guns, but you may want to reduce them and work up in yours. You won't get the velocity with Blue Dot that you get from H110, but I don't think that the deer will care.

If you want a jacketed soft point, try the Hornady 210 XTP with H110. I use this gun when turkey hunting, its my cougar and bear spray.

I just bought a Taurus Tracker Titianium in 41mag for my bear spray. Wanted something light for pack trips into the Wilderness, mostly as a noise maker. I found the selection of bullets somewhat limited at the local gun store.
I did pick up some Hornady 210 XTPs and they seem pretty accurate. But I have no idea how they will work on a deer sized animal.

I like cast swc's but not the real hard ones for hunting, cast my own from wheelweights. Try some lilgun powder in your 41, its doing a real good job for accuracy in mine, and according to Hogdons data its running quite a bit less pressure than 110
the most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to. www.historicshooting.com

Pumpkin-- I have used 13.2 grains of IMR 800X for untold years. Hornady XTP, bullets, non mag primers,'not required', You would have to decide for yourself on the using of this load of course, but it has never let me down. For a 44 mag.,I just add one grain of powder. Keeps things simple, and they work.

My deer load since the very first (1989) has been Sierra 210/19.5/2400/CCI 300. I have used just about all the commercial bullets and just like the Sierra best but to tell the truth they are all about the same when used on deer. On our small southern deer the 170g bullets pushed fast are real deer killers but loose alot if you happen to hit a shoulder. I have started using hard cast for piggies and now just use those for everything but I still have a couple hundred rounds of the 210 stuff loaded for my granddaughter and youngest son. They like that load lots.

I have a couple of 41s. H110 seems to be the most consistent performer in all. I have a M57 S&W that just didn't like H110 for some reason. I found that 13 grains of Blue Dot behind a 210 XTP was just about perfect. The deer can't seem to tell the difference between the Blue Dot and H110.

Stush, I'm with you on that Blue Dot. 13 grs of Blue Dot and a 210/215/220 gr JHP or Hard cast, is bad medicine, on deer, etc. Works great in my S&W 57, R.B.H., and my two Marlins 1894S .41 Mag.
Either H110 or Blue Dot works for me.
