I live in Rochester area and am looking for a hunting site close to Rochester, within 45 minutes to an hour (Sodus, Perry, Batavia), that I can hunt later in the season. I have a location that I travel to in Jamestown area (2.5 hours away), but don't have the luxury to travel that far every time I want to hunt.

Specifically I would want be able to hunt after Thanksgiving time. I use a 12 gage and am happy both sitting or walking. Depending on the terrain, I may want to have someone else there: either the owner of the property or someone that I know who I bring. I only hunt with responsible seasoned hunters like myself.

I may be willing to pay a small fee, and/or help you fill your own tags if you are too busy to hunt yourself. Note that if you own a little 5 acre parcel that is surrounded by hunting camps, don't expect me to be excited.

Public land City of Rochester watershed, Canadice/Hemlock Lake area. I'll see you in the area! Maybe 30-40 minutes from the city?

I tend to avoid state lands like the plague. I've known too many people who've had close encounters because anyone can be there. That is why I would love to find a private site where I won't have to worry about such nonsense.

No problem. After opening day the place is empty. Good luck in your quest.

I grew up hunting around Rochester. As Lawdwaz says, the watershed in Hemlock is a great place. I have killed a few deer off there and I can not even imagine the number squirrels. Hi Tor over by Naples on 245 is another great area. Stay out for the first couple of days and then it's nearly empty.

As a matter of fact, I am coming up in a few weeks to spend a weekend squirrel hunting with buddies.

Good luck.
