I am working on an older Rem 700 ADL in 270 Win. I want to remove the iron sights and put fill screws in the remaining holes. I removed the obvious screw holding the front sight down. But, the front sight is still firmly attached. I cannot even find a screw holding the rear sight down. The rear sight is similar to a Winchester 94 sight with the elevation adjustments on a push up the ladder approach. I would appreciate some help. Thanks in advance.

There is another screw on the front sight hidden under the sight blade. Drift the blade to the side to access it.

The blade in the front sight is tapered. It should be drifted out from left to right with the rifle pointed away from you. HTH..

P.S: Use a brass punch...

P.S: Use a brass punch... And support the front sight base or you may shear the remaining screw..

And support the front sight base or you may shear the remaining screw.. ... or break the front sight in half. Ask me how I know.
