Awsome bag for you guys. I went over to Montana Glasgow in 1979 or 80, the one year non-residents could buy 5 mule deer tags, 2 antelope tags over the counter without prior aplication. I left with 5 mulies, 2 antelope, 3 pheasants, 1 sage grouse for the taxidermist and 2 sharptails. Enough to eat for a year for myself and friends at home. All that in a 5 day hunt. The fish and wildlife officer full of hepfull hints, had also names of ranchers who wanted hunters to shoot deer. I remember the hospitality of the ranchers, the waitresses in the restaurant and the people in the hotel. They made this an unforgettable experience. I have since been back to hunt prairie dogs and pheasants a couple of times.
Wow, nice bag. By the way are the pheasants wild or does the game department release them? Is there much pressure on birds, or do you have the place to yourself? Hey Shrike can Canadians hunt in the US without a guide? I thought all nen-resident aliens needed a guided hunt? Can Europeans go alone <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> If so I am on my way...
Those are all 100% wild animals and I didn't, nor do I ever, have to compete with other hunters. All that you need to buy a hunting license and hunt in MT is a firearms safety certificate or, I believe a license from the previous year from elsewhere. As in any hunting endeavor one will have far greater success going with someone who knows the area and tactics. At the least, having suggestions from those who have been there and maps of the area to be hunted. Going in blind will not produce results like I have pictured.
