Still need to get checked out on the 600. I talked to Jamison about it when I bought a bag from him and he said he's see what he could do to make it as uneventful as possible.

I"ll wager if they suck, its not the bullets fault..... of course if you wanna shoot accubombs and blow up deer thats your waste of game, not mine...

BTW on a non flaming note, serious, what does the gun do with match bullets?

Here is what my F-T/R 308 does at 200 yds. Have 40 rounds through this rifle now. More practice needed before I'll shoot a match.
I slapped the trigger for two of the shots instead of a pull and caused those flyers in the 10 shot group.

Hey Tim, I hope I didn't step on your toes posting here. I assume Olson is pulling your leg, as I've seen your posts before and how well you shoot at distance.

Have you shot your new 6mm more yet?

I'm so pumped about shooting f-class, especially after spectating this past saturday at Lodi Nationals for the final matches at 1000 yard.

Sucks that Oct 18-19 there is a 600 yard regional near by me, but that is also the last two days of WI early gun deer hunt. I sure want to shoot that match, but I need the chance at putting some good meat in the freezer too. Damn!!!

10 shots, 168MK @2600

A classic 308 combo, but is that going to have enough steam for 1000 yards?

nope.
I'm shooting the 168mk because I had them handy to use for bbl breakin. I intend to shoot 155MK or berger 155vld at 600 and 1k yards. I understand I'll need to push the 155 to 2950+ to be good at 1k.

My intentions are to begin matche shooting 600 yards. The 1k will come a bit later.

Got it.

BTW, what are you using to push those 168s to 2600? I have a 22" sporter that likes an M852ish clone load.

Is that the cool home built stock?

41.0gr RL15, Fed210m, 2.795oal. But that's a 29"bbl, Palma95 chamber.

Yes, that is the original Savage wood stock w/oak and fiberglass grafted to it. And a bit of bedding work. Made the recoil lug from 4140, .230" thick. Rustoleum texture paint. I should have made the butt flatter on the bottom as I have to reset every shot due to recoil. Home made bipod too, thinwall 4130 w/a threaded tube-in-tube joint for level/elevation. Stove top parkerize for steel finish.

Unless there is a reason, no since in penalizing yourself to the 155 at 1000. The 168 won't get to 1000 generally, but if you are serious and not going to shoot international palma (even the quals here allow heavy bullets) then I'd start lookign at 185 bergers and up for a 1000 yard projectile.

Just might do that rost. I do have a couple hundred Nosler 155 Custom Comp bullets I'm going to play with.

To date I've only shot the 168 load, weighing every powder charge. Next up is throwing charges from my Uniflow to see if I still have the accuracy that the weighed load has. Gonna do this just cause I want to look at the consistency between methods for this rifle.

Then work with the 155 Nos and do the same drill. And then there is brass to consider. Currently I'm using once fired LC '82 match brass I bought some time ago. I suppose I'll look at Lapua, Nosler custom (because it is supposed to be boxed pre-sorted by weight), and so forth. Then look at different bullet weights (heavies) and manufacturers.

Larry Bartholome (he finished third as National Open F-Class Champion at Lodi) suggested I give Bergers new 155.5 VLD consideration. Very informative talking with some of the shooters at Lodi. And watching their shooting style and cadence was worth its weight in gold too.

Say rost, have you shot with Dave Tubb? I introduced myself to him at Lodi and we had a few words. Nice guy, hell, all the folks there were great.
