Before buying a after-market trigger for a Rem 700 ADL, I tried to adjust the factory trigger according to the instructions available on the internet. I backed the sear adjustment at least 1/2 a turn back from where the firing pin released. I tried a 3lb trigger pull and then a 4lbs pull. Opening and closing the bolt quickly and harshly will release the firing pin at least once in a dozen tries. Am I doing something wrong?

best results will be achieved by replacing the remington spring with a Daryl Holland pull weight spring then adjust to 3 lbs no problem. Check Holland website to order. Wolf springs also makes one, not as good as Holland.

not doing anything wrong. some rem triggers dont like to be adjusted below 8# or they will trip... if you have the mind to take it completely apart and scrub/debur etc. reassemble w/dry lube. try it again. in the mean time, order the spring.... it can be made to work.....

I also recommend the Holland spring as my 700 trigger safely adjusted to just under 3 lbs.

Thanks. MidwayUSA has a Holland Trigger Spring Kit and a Deluxe Trigger Spring Kit. Which one?

I'd do the basic, but if you go the Hollands sight and call them you can buy just the pull weight spring which is really all you need IMO, for $7.00. Dick

I ordered through Brownells and bought the "Deluxe" set that included the trigger spring and an extra tension bolt release spring. I replaced both springs, but I've never had a problem with the factory bolt release springs. If you can buy just the trigger spring, that's what I recommend also.

Made a mistake. The Holland spring kit has a trigger spring and an extra tension bolt stop spring. I have worked on a few of my other rifles and couldn't remember which springs were in the kit.
