Here's an update on the story.

Saw this posted on another board.

Posted there that I wondered why don't they do a study of lead levels in people who eat game? They could cross correlate against hunting methods, butchering, bullet types, etc...

I got a feeling I know why. Because they'd not find any discernible difference in lead levels and their end run to ban bullets and hunting would evaporate.

They don't happen to mention that most of the fragments are large enough to find and are spit out when eating the meat. Or that most of those that are eaten are passed through the body undigested and undissolved.

Man has been useing lead bullets to hunt animals for eight hundred years or so since firearms were first used around thriteen hundred, we also used lead for water pipes and as stoppers on wine and other liquid containers up till the mid to tate twentieth century. What has it harmed? Yes there is a chance of lead poisoning, but with care and the safeguards our government has placed on us, that is a real minimum. What has been proven is that if deer are not managed (Hunted) they overpopulate an area, to the point that they starve, become deseased and waste away. The alternative to that promoted by PETA is that all forest and national parks be closed to the public and Government hunters control the deer herds. Useing that meat to feed the poor and disadvantaged. So I guess they are advocateing poisoning the poor and disadvantaged?
I think this is just an attempt to ban or further restrict either hunting, or lead bullets to remove what the libtards see as the only reason for firearms ownership. They still do not realize that the Second Amendment is NOT ABOUT HUNTING!

Don't see the problem, was spitting out some #2 shot from a piece of my buddies smoke goose meat last week. None the worse for wear, at least nothing noticeable.

Lead contamination in game meat is like global warming..... inconsequential!

Yup, or a whole pile of my relatives would be dead or diseased by now. One big bunch of kids were literally raised on game.

I was probably 11 or 12 before I realised you didn't have to spit out pellets in all the meat you ate. smile

I don't think you want to be too glib about lead shot in your food. It seems to collect, of all places, in the appendix.

See, for example:

the entire 'concern' about lead in game meat is BOGUS. Nothing more than an anti hunting, anti gun ploy.
Is that glib enough?

Yeah, if you ate tons of meat shot with lead bullets, you might show some effects...........and again, you might not. I would hazard a guess that if it were all that dangerous, then most American would have died out during the pioneer days.

I figured when they passed steel shot for waterfowl it was only a matter of time. I'm frankly suprised you can still hunt doves/etc.. in waterfowl areas with lead shot.

If you think lead shot is bad try biting down on a piece of steel!
