I am going to order the reloading equipment for this rifle today. I have never done any reloading before! Yes, I will read and digest info. from the manual. I am detail oriented and some would say slow...better slow and safe than fast and reckless I say. Anyway, any input into where I should start with this rifle...50gr? How much powder? H335 was recommended by a friend...? Any help would be appreciated. The Tikka Lite has 14" rifling. Should I make up a few different loads to see how this rifle does with them? Thanks.

No Tikka 22-250 shooters out there? What is your experience with them? I'm going to the range tomorrow.

.
I am a 22-250 fan but I sold my Tikka a while back. Great rifle but in need of a new barrel.
H-335 was a good powder in it's day but better ones are available now. One of the best in my 22-250s is Reloder 15. It is accurate, it is clean and also has a copper inhibitor to help control copper fouling.
Varget is another newer powder that works very well in th 22-250. As Tikkanut says, H-380 is always a good choice. The thing that I don't like about H-380 is that its dirty. But it was designed for the 22-250. Hodgdons favorite load was 38.0 grains thus the name 380.
I like talking reloading for the 22-250. If you have questions PM me with a phone number.

Thanks JB, I will. I'll probably have more questions because this is all new to me. I just got my first order in of reloading equipment. I'm waiting for Bi-Mart to have a sale on powder, brass and bullets!

I would vote also for R-15 and Varget. Both work very well.

I'm in Eugene. There's a Bi-Mart in Santa Clara and one at 18th street that I have seen reloading supplies at. I don't know if the managers have the option of what they order or not...?

I would vote also for R-15 and Varget. Both work very well. I use both powders in my 22-250s, my favorites. I like the R-15 a little better because of the copper inhibitor in it seems to reduce the copper fouling. .

Your 1-14 twist 22-250 should be maximized with 50-52 or 55 grain bullets.I shoot 55 gr. Sierra boat Tail behind 38.0 grains of H380,CCI bench rest primers and use W.W. brass.this is a minimum load of powder but my most accurate load for ground squirrels at 3443 fps.All this out of the brother to your gun a varmint barreled Sako in 22-250.If I want a hotter load I switch to IMR 4064 at 36.2 grs this get me 3747 fps with the same 55 gr. Sierra Boat Tail bullet.
