I took one deer this year.

7 point buck.

Marlin 1895, Tasco EXP scope. One day I will replace it with a Nikon scope.

Remington 405gr. FP, 1725 fps reload

H4198 powder

WW brass

CCI 200 primer

Lee factory crimp die

40 yards to impact, full penatration, shoulder placed shot.

Deer ran 15 yards after impact and the hunt was done.

If you guys care to list more data that's cool too.

Three deer in PA.

One buttonbuck- 25-06 Remington at about 85 paces.

One 7 point- Marlin 512 Slugmaster, about 25 paces.

One nice sized doe- Marlin Slugmaster, about 60 paces

All one shot clean kills. Freezer is full of good eatin'.

Marlin- only the best leverguns.

Killed a large doe with my LTD-V 45-70 at 93 yards using a 350 grain bullet. Here is the doe with the #1. As soon as the rest of my pictures are scanned I'll post them.reflex264

Perry, perhaps I can talk you into a Leupold rather than that Nikon. There is more to a good hunting riflescope than just being clear and bright.

Let me get us back on track with leverguns:

1 spike buck with .375 Win. M94BB. Dusk, at 40 yards with a Williams FP sight. The 220-gr. InterLock struck like the Hammer of Thor.

Nice pictures of your deer fellers! At this point even if I had a pic of mine I certainly wouldn't show it. He was young and Tender.

Jay, is the Leupold the only brand of scope that you own?
I have yet to own a Nikon but have looked through a few and I was impressed to say the least.
An old friend of mine here at home has nothing but Leupolds. I guess some people buy scopes like they do automobiles, sticking to what they know.
Jay, If you can convince me of a Leupold VS the Nikon it must have at least 4" of eye relief.

regards,
Perry

I took 2 does the last of the season. These two were together, 1st one was taken quartering away standing still and at the shot the other one ran and I took it at 75yds at full run. Both were taken with my 1894CP in .357 Mag using handloads of 158gr JSP Speer "Unicore" bullets. Both were complete passthru's.

When it comes to choosing friends....I'm at an age where I'd rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

Hey Fellas,
Well,I managed to get three deer in Virginia ,right behind the house on our property, before we moved to Palmer,Alaska.

One was a big doe with my Thompson Center Encore, a yearling doe and a nice 8 point buck, both with my Remington BDL in 30-06 Sprngfld.

I figured it would be a good while,if ever, that I get to hunt Whitetails again, so I had the 8 Pointer mounted and shipped to me here in Palmer,Alaska.
He is hanging on the wall in the living room.

Muzzleloaderman...long name ! That little guy was taken in the Silvies unit just above Burns Oregon. It's big pine forest there and shots can be close. In the past I've done well there. It takes at least 2 preference points to pull a tag though. My last kill there was a husky 4 point with my .270. We've also taken some nice bull elk there including a dandy 6x6 I shot with a pointed stick. Now that was fun ! Blacktail53 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

The Applegate unit is a good one. I mispent a lot of my youth there chasing blacktails through the poison oak, dodging snakes and ticks. Did I mention black bears? I killed a briuser BC buck almost by accident on the little applegate and my younger brother shot what is still the #1 blackpowder blacktail less than a mile from my kill...with my gun, the turkey! Oh yeah, turkeys. Weren't any turkeys there at that time. Now we're covered up in them! Anyway, sounds like were neighbors. Good luck...run one my way!
