there is no more affectionate, intelligent and obedient animal than a 'found' dog.
i found a flea-infested lab/whippet cross with a bullet hole in her hip on a drilling rig in the middle of nowhere, somewhere north of Lake Somerville. i took her home and fed her back to health. she was my constant companion for 13 years, and when i put her down, i was not right for a week, at least.
'found' dogs are best. probably my only successful relationship in my life.

When I look back on my earlier years I have to admit that I'm far from a saint but I have come to love animals, especially dogs. I even catch bugs in the house and take them outside. I know, I'm pitiful.....but I just can't help it. I will kill rattling snakes but that's about it.

I too take bugs outside, trouble is, they ain't moving on the fly swatter. I just kinda gently scrape them off.Rattle Bugs,,, I've killed every one I ever saw and in Tucson, that was quite a few.

shoot, man. i was all over the place. if you worked on any location later drilled by Blocker, Bawden, Intrepid, Explorer, Chapparal, Saw, and a bunch of others, i was probably involved, somehow.
one year, when the domestic drilling industry was expiring it's latest recurring death, i never missed a house payment. i had 13 w-2s at the end of the year, but never missed a paycheck. did most of my work with blocker drilling co., however. rigs 15, 18 and 19. ground to the crown and back down. then i went offshore with Global Marine just in time for a further readjustment of the economy. ended up cutting grass and doing landscaping later on... life goes on...
