George Orwell was a Prophet, not a novelist. Read 1984 and then look around you!

As others have noted under Ram's post, this is right down that witch Hitlery's alley. Without an incumbant democRAT, she's got a good shot at the nomination in '08.
And even if G.W. gets 4 more years, who can the GOP put up in '08? Cheney? Not bloody likely. I never did trust him, and now this flap about his company doing some propheteiring in Gulf War 1, even less so.
Collin Powell is the only one I'd even consider at this point, not that I know much about him. 7mm

Maybe a Powell/Rice ticket in the next one. It covers all the bases. Ethnic/race, sex, military service, ,gov experiance and education. A very broad appeal to many bases!

I would also. In fact, I think they would be doing a better job than GW is.

during the last election, i wrote in powell and wrote in gw as his running mate. i like bush, but considering the "experienced" cabinet that he put together, i might not have been too far off the mark.

The best presidents have simply surrounded thenselves with good people. if you look at the compsotion of the cabinet of GWB, he has an all-star cast that has been there before and brought us a great economic recovery. I'd say that if you look at how the dems got pounded in the south in the most recent congressional and senatorial races, you might reconsider the strength of ANY democrat for anything. the South has traditionally been a bastion for the dems due to them selling the tired pablum of 'Racial inequality' and all that. The minorities have now wised up. Georgia has the first republican governor in 106 years, and the first senator of same in a minority district since Reconstruction. They now know who spends their tax money , now that they are paying them! I think Powell would make a good pres. also, however I don't see a minority or a female being elected to the presidency any time soon.

How about Giuliani/Rice in 2008? How old is Rudy, anybody know ?
I must say, though, I've also been hoping Giuliani would run against Hillary for senate in 2006.

Walker--Giuliani's views on gun control are virtually identical to Ted Kennedy and Hillary's. But I'd vote for Condi Rice any day.
Proudly representing oil companies, defense contractors, and firearms manufacturers since 1980. Because merchants of death need lawyers, too.

Thanks for straightening me out on that one, Steve_NO. I did a little research, and was surprised to learn that he is very much a social liberal, ... anti-gun, pro-abortion, pro-gay rights, .... I thought he had more sense. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> http://www.issues2000.org/Celeb/Rudy_Giuliani_Gun_Control.htm

Yep, Powell is on the record as being in favor of more gun control.

I think there are only a few Republicans who are truly supportive of the 2d Amendment as its intended. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas would be one of those few. The overwhelming number of Republicans who say they support gun rights really mean: 1) Only if it gets me elected and 2) Only for guns necessary to go duck or deer hunting.
