Those cats would make my wife's Jack Russell Terrier run and hide!

Naaaa.... Doesn't sound like the Jack Russels I have known, the instruction manuals for which breed specifically warn folks that they rarely die of old age, for exactly similar reasons.

With regards to them big cats, I figure post an image of one of them, and then link it to the photos of that poor guy who got et by a bear last year and THEN you'd have the makings of an internet legend

Large hand? Hunh, I don't hack and don't own any photo software except the HP interface stuff to my Wally-Mart camera.

It's a simple matter of holding the cat at arm's length and using a fairly low-power lense (say, the common 35mm). We do it all the time with deer antlers, eh?

Still - that's a mighty large cat!

Pureina cat chow is that kinda like mcDonalds for kitty, Makes big and fat but the the poor cats can't sue. or does that or did that cat just have a healthy diet of small dogs, baby alligators and the occasional child? That is one big puddy tat.

As I said earlier, was the neighbors cat. They fed him people food as well as cat food and he had to have a saucer of cream every night as well as ice cream if they did. Nothing more to it. My three are free feeders, have food avaiable 24-7 (Science Diet Adult hairball control formula). My biggest is about 17Lbs and the other two both close to 10Lbs. Only have seen one other cat as big as "Mooch", a neighbor of my grandparents in Okeechobee had a Main Coon that weighed 32Lbs and was about a foot wide when she laid down, which was most of the time.

Come on people. The picture is obviosly a fake. I heard the story about it a few years ago. The guy made it on his computer for his daughter, she thought it was cool by the way. The hand is a dead giveaway. Don't know about the first pic but the second is not real.

I had a 40-pounder once. We rescued it from a tenant's basement. The dumb turd had left a cat locked in the basement alone for a year with nothing but a bag of food and a drippy faucet. The cat lived in the food bag. When we first got the cat it was too fat to do anything. It lived on the floor. It lost 5 pound the first couple of months we had it. After it lost enough weight to start getting on furniture again, it would get up on the waterbed in the middle of the night, roll me over with a paw and then sit on my chest and wash my beard. I'd wake up suffocating from this huge cat sitting on my chest. It got down to 28 lbs before it died of feline lupus a couple of years later.

I had two housecats in those days. The were great buddies. I used to tie a clothesline around their necks and put them out in the side yard. The 10 feet of clothesline went from one cat to the other. The cats never cooperated enough to organize an escape. One would play, the other would sleep. One would jump up on the fence, the other would lay there and look at him.

TLee - That picture was on Riply's Believe it or Not and was debunked. It is a fake - plain and simple.

That girl is very short. The camera angle is slightly from below and if you brought it up to her eye level, she would be lucky enough to be as tall as the lamp behind her. A big cat, small lady and some camera angle makes that cat look some big...

Snopes had something to say about the one in the man's arms.

We do not know whether or not the size of the cat depicted in the attachment is accurate. If it is true, the size can likely be attributed to a thyroid condition, as described in the article, or cross-breeding.

I said I posted that to a cat site some time ago and it has shown up with different captions since then! The cat weighed 38 LBS at the time in that picture and has since died of heart failure. On post I saw including that pic said it weighed 95 pounds. That is how urban legends spring from real items.
