On ar15.com which is where I first found the article and posted here (and honestly has a HUGE readership) a Moderator chimed in and said they had just approved a new account with a cooper firearms email so this could get interesting.
I bet companies like Kimber feel like they won the lottery today.

Everyone here should send an email to cooper web site letting them know how you feel. show them the power of the internet and power of choice by the consumer! I bet those who work at Cooper really appreciate their CEO's bold move.

Apparently Mr. Cooper drank deeply of the Obama Kool Aid, probably believing that when Obama is annointed, he'll allow Mr. Cooper to stay in business, building evil killer tools. (Fat chance!)
No Cooper firearms for this child, either!
L.W. Yeah, when they write the legislation banning "high powered sniper rifles" and put him out of business, he'll figure it out. But my guess is the firearms buying public will shun Cooper and bankrupt him before that happens.

But my guess is the firearms buying public will shun Cooper and bankrupt him before that happens. As much as I would LOVE that to happen I bet it doesn't. Didn't happen to Ruger when Bill Ruger wrote the letter to congress suggesting banning high capacity magazines as a way to save his own ass/company. Didn't happen with S&W when they did their famous screw up. It hasn't happened to Robinson Arms (yet) for backing an anti gun republican. Even Jim Zumbo is still on TV and writes articles for magazines. History tells us that people will bitch and still buy. Sadly.

If Cooper goes out of business next year, how many US firearm manufacturers will there be left? I'm sure the anti's will be celebrating and cheering to have one less manufacturer to deal with. This thread is depressing.

none of those were in the context of a bitter national race with the survival of gun rights at issue.....I think people will take this much harder.
plus, Coopers are a niche product, not a mass produced consumer good like S&Ws and Rugers....and they've no LE orders to fall back on. The kind of people who would buy Coopers are exactly the kind of people who will be appalled and angered by Cooper's support of the Messiah.....because he gives good speech.

What's really amazing is that he publicized it. He could have just refused the interview. Said my politics are private. Like he couldn't even predict the [bleep]-storm this would cause.
You kind of worry about touching off 60,000+ pounds of pressure next to your face in a rifle designed by somebody that dumb.

The sympathy for the Cooper employees is misplaced. If Obama wins, partly due to the support of Dan Cooper, how many firearms manufacturers employees, FFL dealers, Guides, gun writers etc., etc., may lose their jobs in the near future?
Cooper employees are talented, they will find work. Another company will garner his market share. What he has done is unforgiveable. The S&W and Ruger arguments are misplaced. S&W WAS affected by what they did. They were unprofitable for 4 years after that and didn't become profitable until they came under new ownership. You don't think the old ownership went away in part to the unofficial boycott?
Ruger screwed up, but he didn't publicly endorse Bil Clinton or send him money. In fact quite the opposite, Ruger was one of the major advertisers in the NRA during the 90's. Ruger sent money to the NRA that was used against the anti-gunners in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. How many Cooper ads have you seen in the NRA mags?
Think with your heads, not your hearts.

As I said earlier, I knew Dan during the old Kimber of Oregon days. He was ..... different.
And I've avoided him like the plague ever since.
Several times over the last many years, gunny writer friends of mine have gotten really close to Cooper and apparently saw a lot to like. I'd read their stuff and think, "What's wrong with me??"
It's amazing how I tend to question my own beliefs at times like that. So, I looked again, and again I've always come away feeling that Dan Cooper and Cooper Arms is not one of us and the entire thing is something/someone I want to avoid at all costs.
For me, at least, this is the last nail in the coffin for Dan Cooper and Cooper Arms. He signed on with the Messiah, The Chosen One, and he can friggin' rot.

Got up early to go hunting, but I read this thread and spent 15 minutes of precious pre-sunlight time writing to Cooper Firearms voicing my opinion of his support of Obama.
I didn't have the desire to own one before, will never do so now.
