I've used the 120g speer flat base for years and haven't felt a reason to change.

My favorite is the 120gr Nosler Solid Base. But since that one is no longer available, the 120gr Speer Hot Core does about as well. I logged in to say exactly what you said. My Bob is now a Bob Ackley, and it loves Nosler 115 PTs. I still shoot the Speer 120's for the most part. JB's line up is pretty hard to argue with...

To me, The beauty of the Roberts is it acuracy. My little ruger RL is a tack driver , with both a 100 grain partition and a 100 grain TSX barnes. But with the Partition I have to slow them down Quit a bit. Seems to me the best thing to do is pick a bullet 100 of grain and up that your Roberts likes.

I have tried most of the 25 caliber bullets on deer out of the Bob and my favorite is no longer available. The Barnes 90 grain XBT has always been a competant killer of our little Kentucky Whitetails as well as some not so little. I remember a crippled doe that I somersaulted at 165 yards with the little bullet. It is easy to get 3200 fps with the 90 grain even out of my 20 inch barrels, and accuracy is all one could ask for. Perhaps the new tipped 80 grain will be a good replacement -- we shall see.
The only poorly performing bullet I have used in the Bob were some pre-interlock Hornady 117 gr. RNs that I picked up for a buck at a yard sale. These bullets were designed for .25-35 WCF velocities and literally blew up out of the Roberts. It took three to put a little six point buck down and I still had to use the .44 handgun for a coup de gras. Bullet technology has improved a lot!
