It is easy to do, and be sure the rings are not over the glass or the adjustments, depending on the scope in question...I surface grind all my rifle receivers and hand fit the bases much like one would inlet a barrel channel, then a thin dab of red locktite and tighten the screws tight, tight on the bases. sometimes I use 8/40s as opposed to 6/48s, especially on big bore rifles.
On the rings a little rubber cement (very thin) or there are other materieal options to coat the inside of the rings, and then I snug the screws up. conventional screws can be tightened pretty darn tight, hex srews less ( I personally don't like hex screws at all) and be super carefull with Torx screws as they will literally crush a scope tube because they really have a lot of purchase..However Torx screws are the best of the lot and they don't mar up like other screws, just be carefull when you snug them up. Tight is OK, but don't put your weight into them..you can do this by using a small handled screw driver that limits your tightening ability. I use a very small torx driver.
