Can anybody tell me if Ruger ever chambered there No.1 in 224 Weatherby. One of the guys at work claims to have one and that it is a factory barreled gun but I have not had a chance to see it.

I strongly doubt he has a factory issued .224 WBY! No record I know of about such a combo. Ruger does not admit to making any and, if they did, it was a probably a "one-of" for a friend of Bill.

Likely a clever 'smith could rechamber a #1 from .22/250 to .224 Wby. In this day, I just don't know why anyone would want to. In all my years of messing with guns and ammo and reloading, I have never, ever seen any .224 Wby brass. I believe it has been discontinued for a number of years. Every Ruger reference I have been able to read, has never mentioned it.
But it's like 1-B mentioned, Ol' Bill made a few specials for some of his close friends. Items like this happen in nearly every industry. But I'd have to see it before I believed it!

I would doubt it very much that it is Factory chambered in the .224 Wby. But I never say never when it comes to what WBR may have had done for a friend. I would have to see it, especially the caliber marking, know what the Factory said it was shipped as, AND who it made was for- and where it came from! There has to be a story that makes sense on the rifles that were FOB(friend of Bill)
