Besides the 338 and the 416 on the 375 Ruger case, what else is up and running?

I have one of the original 375 short mags in the form of a 375 Chatfield/Taylor.

Does that count? grin

6.5/375 Ruger........disaster!!!

Throated to shallow, even 125s go deeper than the neck. Wanted to use 160 Woodleighs, mostly. Even sent a 140 Swift and a 160 Woodleigh with the action. Barrel is way to heavy, balance is terrible. Wrong stock was ordered and still used. Colour of the Bell & Carlson stock is off by quit a bit. Redding cut the dies for me from the reamer drawings and the seater die is to short for anything longer than a 140 Swift and that is maxing it out. Even the brass has problems. I was hoping to use 7mm Dakota, it forms in the dies but will not chamber. The web is just to wide. I did order 375 Ruger brass so I was able to do a little playing and that is how I found out that the throat was cut wrong.

The woes of trying to customize rifles north of the border.

Just my opinion ......and I have so few.

WhelenAway,

I have an original .35/.375 Ruger. It was make in about 1916 or 1917. It's called the .35 Newton. So far have been unable to achieve dies. Redding absolutely REFUSES to make them for me. Why? I don't have a clue... frown I guess I'm going to have to resort to RCBS. Supposedly my dealer has ordered them from Huntingtons. I don't have a clue how long it's going to take.

Grasshopper

How did you know I was thinking 35 caliber?

You need to get that 35 Newton up and running!

Biggest problem I have at the moment is that I purchased the rifle with pieces missing from the bolt. Pieces that rendered the safety inoperative. The pieces have been made... However the safety is very hard to operate and the gunsmith who is working on it is stumped as to why. frown

Looks like I'm going to have to purchase another Newton rifle just to see what parts I need to alter. And thus presents a problem.... Newton rifles are not all that common. blush ... But I'm looking... Ideally I'd like a .256... This project appears to have been undertaken under MURPHY'S influence... At least, his law seems to apply... smile

I'm confidant that it will all come together eventually...

No .366 Ruger yet? Sure it's the .375 on a (crappy) diet, but just to be a tad different. Besides, I think it would be a nearly ideal cartridge to make the 286 TSX behave as it has potential to.
