I am thinking about buying an in line muzzleloader in the near future possibly a Thompson Omega or Triumph and when I do I would like to mount some kind of optical device on it. I was thinking about a stright six power Leupold with heavy cross hairs or possibly a Trijion halo red dot or what ever it's called. I have absolutely no experience with these Trijion red dots. As a matter of fact, I have not even handled one. What can you guys tell me about them and would it be a smart choice for a muzzleloader? Or should I stick with what I'm familiar with, the 6x Leupold? Any and all opinions are encouraged. Thanks in advance. RRM

Don't rule out the Nikon Omega with BDC reticle it's made for the thompson Omega, and Nikon makes a good scope with full lifetime warranty. The BDC stands for bullet drop compensator and with a magnum charge it pretty much takes the guess work out of shooting between 100 and 250 yards.

I currently have a Burris 2-7 on my Knight. I have also used a 2-7 Monarch. Both are good choice without breaking the bank.

I have used a 6X42 Leupold on my ML's for years & made shots up to 200 yards. I see no need for BD reticles on a ML but, if it works for some why not.

Leupy M8 $x on mine. With shots limited to 200 yards maximum, gives you all the magnification you need and not too much on short shots. JMHO TM

I have a Leupy 3-9x40 on my Omega. I personally do not like any of the red dots on anything other than AR's. I cannot shoot precisely with them. YMMV.

I have a Nikon Omega on a Ruger #1. It gets the name because it was made specifically for the Thompson Omega. Optically seems on par with the Buckmasters. Said to be up to heavy recoil. Also has a constant 5 inch of eye relief. Works fine on the #1 Ruger in a 45/70 where the 5 inch eye relief is quite welcome.
