My 6.5x55 AI built on a single shot long action 110 Savage receiver, BVSS stock, replaced standard trigger with an accutrigger, Northland Shooters Supply recoil lug, 32" Rock stainless barrel, & older Burris Black Diamond. My shooting buddies 6.5x55 AI on a Savage RB/LP Target Action & Rock Barrel. ...and last, definitely not least.... 338 RUM on a Savage RB/RP Target action, 32" Rock Barrel, Straight Shot Gunsmithing muzzle brake, & Night Force 8-32x56 NXS on Burris XTR rings. Only started load development with all three, but the results while fireforming brass at 700 yards with the 6.5x55 AI is VERY promising. The 338 has been delivering 3 shot 3" groups at 700 yards while working up loads using 300 gr Sierra Matchkings as well. All of the smitty work was completed by me.

What kind of velocity can that RUM squirt out those 300s at? Don't think I want to pack those, but don't think they were meant for packing. Nice looking rigs.

Wonder if anyone has ever put a Ruger bolt release on a Savage? I'm waiting for my custom shop 250-3000 American. Lefty with woodstock and floor plate.

They do look to have the forward weight to sit steady off hand.

Still working up load development on the 338 RUM - at 88 gr of RL25, it is at 2800. Lots of room to go.
Added the muzzle brake last night (took 4 weeks longer to receive than expected) and the groups are still good - we shot a couple 3 round groups today.

The 338 RUM is quite the beast. Be interested to see what your top speed ends up. I wouldn't think you could get much past 2900, but with that BC who cares. Nice you can smith them yourself.

Midwayusa.com used to sell replacement Savage barrels in 6.5x55mm caliber awhile back but have since discontinued them, I always thought that a Savage 110 in 6.5x55 would sell really well as a factory item.

Between weather, work, and the holidays...and no time when I need time, we were able to sneak out to a 700 yard range. Pic is the results of 50 gr of H4831, CCI LR magnum primer, Win cases previously fireformed, 142 gr Sierra MK's, and the resulting 5 shot group. I don't know how good this group could have been, I muffed shot 4 and did not care about shot #5 (yes, lesson learned!!).

Nice looking rigs, and nice shooting as well.
