Yeah it was good to hear from him, I was loading some yote ammo for my 6/06 and he called to talk about yote scopes for his .243.
Too funny...

222rem 53TSX at 3200fps.

This is where the TSX shines, small cal., low bullet weight, and high vel.

120lbs Doe. The bullet didn't exit because it hit the off side shoulder joint. One of the only problems with small bores was apparent in this case: no exit, no blood to trail.

That one sure did! Pretty impressive.

Sounds like this one didn't though:

A second shot through both shoulders ended the deal.

I'm as big a TSX fan as the next guy. Just food for thought"

But, let's ignore the fact that other bullets aren't perfect either. I know that you will continue to. And let's ignore the fact that it held 100% of it's weight.

And let's only claim that a bullet did not fail if taken from a dead animal if it's a lead core

I think, like the Japanese Zen potters, if we ever get a perfect bullet, we'll have to break it. Humans are not worthy of perfection. Or something like that. grin

How's this:

Since no bullet is perfect, it becomes a game of deciding which tradeoffs a guy wants to make. A person could very easily decide he doesn't WANT the tradeoffs that come with the TSX and opt for a bullet that is "better" for their uses.

If this thread accomplishes nothing else than making it so that a guy can make the above statement without the TSX cultists mugging them, then it has accomplished a LOT!

Better? Of course you never miss an opportunity to extol any defect that you perceived in a TSX, and ignore any in "Your" bullet of choice

Maybe Stick is right

Here's the ONSIDE shoulder of the buck I shot this year with the 100gr TSX out of my .25-06 at 3300fps. Shot was at 225 yards.

The trade off's that TSX offer are "DEAD ANIMALS" the recovered bullets were all from (For Heaven Sakes) Dead Animals

When the lead cores come unglued (and they do) and give not exits are blood trails the bullets aren't recovered, because the animal isn't recovered. But hey let's just ignore that fact...

JJHack prefers the TSX for mixed bag general purpose African hunts, so let's get that straight up front. I edited the post below.

For guns 30 caliber to 8mm in standard cartridges under 3000fps MV I like the Hornady interbond very much on non-DG under 400 pounds. When the game is getting bigger or can fight back requiring bone crunching impacts at close range, I strongly prefer the TSX

When the same conditions are met but using rifles shooting over 3000fps the Swift Aframe is a very hard bullet to beat. I think I have seen more shuddering and stunning game stopping impacts with this combination then just about anything else. Same thoughts for DG though, I pick the TSX again

All bonded bullets are not the same. The Interbond I think has been the softest and easiest to expand of all I have used. It's a tremendous killer of big game when sized properly and driven to a prudent speed. The North Fork is the opposite end of the scale it's very firm, actually hard with a thick jacket compared to the interbond.

The Aframe, woodleigh and accubond seem to split the difference and maybe have it about right for the "all around" use crowd. If I want something for smaller game, I'll use the Aframe or interbond which open better at a greater distance and still hold together great.

Jordan, is the hole there where you trimmed around the impact? Can't really tell what I'm looking at there... my bad, but if you could explain a little...
