1. Savage 270 Win w/TSX's 2. Savage 35 Whelen w/Federal factory TBBC 3. Marlin 444 Marlin w/325 gr Hardcast
Some would argue that the 444 isn't much of a step up in power from the Whelen, but with heavy hardcast bullets it is. It's also a lot lighter and handier, so is easier to pack.

Mine would be 270 win. Remington TI stock stf barrel (building that one), Remington CDL 35 Whelen (currently have this one) and a 375 Ruger African slicked up for perfect feeding (want this one). I would shoot 150's in the 270, 225 tsx's in the whelen and tsx's or partitions in the 375.
After thought, a 358 norma might would be my heavy rifle its a toss up.

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

I can answer the question in 2. If I were starting from scratch I would save myself a lot of time, angst and expense, and try to talk AlaskaCub out of his Kimber Montana 30OWSM and Ruger 338WM.
A lightweight mountain rifle and a standard sporter.
Not saying I'm smart enough to have done it that way.

I still say I could do it all with a .338 RCM. I just don't want to . Dennis

dennis,
Duplicating the 22 LR might be hard for a 338 RCM. Otherwise I agree.

dennis,

Marlin M-39A .22 lr.
Remington XP-100 in .223 Remington, Lilja barrel (14") in a McMillan pistol stock.
WINCHESTER pre-64 M-70 in .30-06 Lilja barrel, McMillan stock.
WINCHESTER pre-64 M-70 in .375H&H, Lilja barrel, McMillan stock.
All of the above finished by Robar in Roguard finish.
These have fulfilled all my needs for many years, I might have a few others, but these are my go to rifles for anything in Alaska.

1) .270 Win or .30-06 2) .338-06 or .35 Whelen 3) .375 H&H or Ruger
I don't believe you really need the .375s if you're shooting .250g in the .338-06 or .35 Whelen but they are nice to have.
All rifles would be synthetic stocked and SS barrels.
