Well, I will be heading out on my first wild boar hunt in Texas in a couple of weeks. I think I have everything I need to take with one possible exception.
Is a range finder needed for wild boar hunting?
Hunting will basically be bait and wait with shots ranging from 100 to 300+ yards. Will be using a .308, with 150 gr Nosler BST bullets.
Thanks
Greg

If it makes you feel better to have one then get one. If the people you are hunting with will let you if you see them that far off just walk up closer. Mind the wind, stay low and stop when they look up and you can walk right up to them. Hogs can't see for sour apples but can hear a knat break wind in a high gale and can scent just a little worse than deer can.

If you mind the wind, you can get within slingshot range of those things. They can't see very well at all, and if there are several they will make so much noise that you could walk on corn flakes and still put a stalk on them.
I'd suggest getting right up on them rather than hitting them from way out. it;s exciting to get right in and hear the grunts.
