Sounds like an ok price. Keep in mind that if you loose the clip, you have to have clips marked in 300 Savage for the rifle. Don't let anyone tell you that 308 clips will work. I know from first hand experience.

Almost all my short action clips say .300savage. They say .257roberts on them too.

If you look around, they can be had cheaper. Pretty regularlly.

That price isn't out of whack though. Just not a smoking deal.

Cool, but I was just putting the price out there for people who don't wanna wait 12 months to save $50 bucks on a 7600 carbine.

sounds like a good price and in a very practical caliber. I'm using a 300 Savage for the first time and I truly enjoy it. Don't see many 760s on the used gun market in my neighborhood and when I do, the prices are substantially higher.

Are the clips 760 and early 7600 clips, which should have only 1 cartridge listed on the side, or are they newer 7600's with about 5 catridges listed on them?

I think I'd take a 7600 Carbine in 30/06 over a 300Savage.

More mags, factory ammo, brass, velocity [not that that matters for a short range deer rifle], easier to sell if need be, and handles heavier bullets better.

....... but then on the other hand, a 30/06 is not as cool as a 300savage. grin

Semms like a really heavy rifle for such a petite cartridge.

Me too, and if it was a 760 C in 06 I would of called Rob today and bought it...grins

Also, I can shoot a 300 Savage all day without killing my shoulder, and kill deer all day up to 300 yards. I save my 760 in 30-06 when I need to reach out and do a bit of long distance dialing.. grin
