No. Don't drink more than a 6-pack a year, if that...No drugs, ever...just cigarettes.

Get the right meds----had a horrific head injury many years ago (I should be dead) and they helped me get thru it! Also stay away from Bart and Steelhead --- they will not help your situation.

Wish i could quit the butts. No problem loosing the alchy/drugs, but tobacco is imposable man.

I get bummed pretty bad now and then too. But. I got too much going on, some fun, some a serious pain, to commit suicide.

Derek,
It sounds like you and I were seperated at birth (hopefully you ended up better looking than I did.....).

I go through the same exact problems you do on a daily basis.I've gone a month without taking one step outside of the house before.I just didn't give a damn.I have gone through (and still go through)periods where I give away most if not all my money.

One of your problems is the meds.Anti-depresants will only work so long before your body becomes so used to them that they are usless.I had it happen to me and figured I was on a one way road to the loony bin before my doctor found out and changed my meds. You need to have your meds looked at and changed at least 3-4 times a year, and that's a minimum.

You might be like a lot of folks (including myself)who need to be on multiple anti-depressants to get the right results. For a lot of folks, three is the magic number-two "upper" type meds in the morning or mid-day,to make you feel more upbeat, and then a "downer" type at bedtime. For example,Pristq and Wellbutrin in the morning, another Wellbutrin in the afternoon, and then a Trazadone at bedtime.

Things can only get better-I know,as I've been in your position many, many times. There's is no need for self-destructive behavior.I've BTDT and it only makes things worse.Chuck the cancer sticks and switch to nicoteen gum.

Go to your doctor and get your meds changed.Tell him what you're going through. Then just start doing things you enjoy.

And you have friends-it's in your darkest moments that you get the feeling you don't have any.Again,I've BTDT.If you feel the need to socialize,go to the local gunshop or range,or even just go grocery shopping and make small talk with the people there.

PM me any time you want.I've been down the road you're on,and know exactly what you're feeling.Even though it feels like the end of the world,it's not.

We're praying for you Derek.

Brian.

Hang in there Derek. I know what you are going through. I recently lost my father and it has not helped, but I am grateful for the support of my family

Why don't you and your wife help this woman together? Barak and I do a lot of our ministry as a unit, and it keeps us close as a couple. I can also see this woman perhaps preferring to talk to another woman, in addition to a man.

Well, I'm an idiot...Long story. But I was being used by this "friend." So I'm doubly depressed and frustrated. Just found this out.

Derek,
You are not an idiot. You tried to do the right thing and the person you tried to help was pulling a fast one on you. That's not your fault-you were trying to do the right thing.

Derek,

I've been down this very road as well. See a specialist, specifically a Psychiatrist. You may have to have to stick with weekly visits for a while until you get things dialed in. Don't expect the first med, at the first dosage, to be spot on. "It's a process" isn't just a line from a movie.

I've sent you a PM, feel free to call.

Regards,
Scott

Don't let it depress you. Better to hold a hand out and be used than not hold it out at all.

People say to me, "Why do that prison ministry stuff? Those folks are just playing you, using you." But you know, I don't care. I can't control others; I can only control myself. If I try and make others do things (or not do things), I am doomed to failure. The only thing I can do is live MY life the way I think it should be lived. Going into prison is something God calls me to do. He has His reasons, and they are better than mine for anything else.

Being used or not, I am sure you have had an impact on this woman. Sometimes God uses us in ways that we cannot see, or differently than we expect. All we can do is trust that His hand is on things.

All we can do is keep throwing starfish back into the water. God will take it from there.

Penny

Derek,

As many others have, BTDT.

You really should focus on the Good that you offered, not the Bad in her taking.

Luckily, every morning you look at You in the mirror...

DereK: I try to never say that I can relate to someone elses feelings. By your standards, I've probably never left kiddie land. Just a few suggestions though as these are tough times and a tough season for many:

0) Get back to some professionals to talk and check out your system. There are advances in diagnoses and treatments every day
1) Think about all the good times
2) Get involved with as many people and hobbies as you can
3) Dwell on the future and all it's possibilities - we only have about 70 yrs to accomplish all the stuff we've dreamed about here
4) Find someone you can sit down face to face with and talk about this NOW. If there are no close friends or family, just go straight to the nearest minister's or priest's door and lay it out
5) And last, this has gotten me through many many issues - one can always hang on for 5 more minutes.

Feel free to Personal Message (PM) me. I'm still working and not always online, but will listen and help as much as possible. My best, 1Minute

I appreciate the advice...I wil try to make the best of it. I don't know what else to do.

I thought I was at the bottom when I was riding around in my rusted-out $400 pickup truck scrounging for scrap metal to pay off my student loans. That was nothing. I thought I was at the bottom when I was working in the junkyard, killing myself in every physical and mental way for $13 an hour. That was a day in the park.

I'm starting to find out how deep the rabbit hole goes.
