Texas is over the counter for licenses, most of the state is privately owned so there is usually a trespass fee of some sort or you book with an outfitter/guide then their fees covers trespass.
Chuckbuster... Thanks very much for taking the time to explain... LB

Mark, I'll answer as best as I can. I know relatively little about the Carmen Mtn WT. I know they are found along the Big Bend region of W Texas, and they appear to me to be much the same as coues deer. I do not know any landowner who has a ranch with those deer, sorry about that. My buddie' buck should net out about 178 7/8" typical. Not sure exactly about mine becuase his two sides are so different it would obviously kill any net score on him. Hope this helps, and I'll help any of you any way I can, if I can. Thanks for the kind words.

JG,
Both are monsters! They are both tremendous Texas MD!
I'm guessing sand hill country...
I'm heading back out to our place in Scurry Co. again to see if I can find a worthy MD buck...they are pretty slim, but there are a few around.

Carmen Mtn. Whitetails have a limited range. Several years ago I received info from a booking agent & I believe guided hunts were around 4K. I believe you would have to contact a good booking agent to secure a hunt. One that could probable line you up advertises on this site. Atkinson Hunting Adv. @208-326-4120 & web is www.atkinsonhunting.com.

When people refer to sand hill country in Texas, is it the area west of Odessa?

Stray, it's generally an area running along the TX and NM line all the way up West of Amarillo.

My aunts and uncles are farmers in Bailey County. Great country for big mulies for sure. The farther N you go from Gaines County the more farm/cropland the better.

my great uncle and aunt were Van and Katherine Rogers they have both passed on thier son Clinton Rogers, i quess he would be my second cousin or something like that has the farms now.He would be about 69 or 70 i believe him and my dad are about the same age. when i was a teen back in the 70s i spent most of my summers up there but back then i don't believe there were any deer in that part of the country we would hunt pheasants quail jackrabbits and coyotes did'nt find out about the big mule deer till i went back up north for my grandmothers funeral last nov.
