Anyone else use them and how do you like them. After my experience with the mountain goat I shot this fall with a 130gr in my 264 WM I came away very impressed with their performance. The bullet made a good wound channel without a lot of blood shot meat even though the impact velocity was still over 3000 fps. I think I'm going to try either 165's or 180's in my 30-06, I'm leaning towards the 180's.

These bullets worked great on an Alaskan brown bear this year. Plan on running these bullets again for bear come spring.

I use the 165 gr scirocco's in my 300 wsm, with 67.5 gr of IMR 4831 I get about 3100 fps. I have shot one animal so far with this load, one shot one kill on a Nevada mule deer.

I use the 180s in my .300 Wby. They shoot about 5/8-3/4 inch at 100 yds. MV is approximately 3,250 fps. I have taken two large bull elk with this load and neither animal moved more than a few feet. Never used it on anything else but paper...

I took them to Alberta in my 7mm Dakota;150 gr 7mm loaded to 3225.I never did shoot a deer with them but shot some coyotes, expecting the coyotes to be blown in two. I was surprised because they'd punch a hole and exit, about like a nickel to quarter size, and really did not tear them up that badly.I sort of concluded they are a bit tougher than I thought they'd be,although coyotes don't prove a whole bunch.

Any of you guys that are having good results with the "II's" ever try the originals?? I had really good luck with the A-frames in several guns and when the first scirrocco's came out I bought 3 boxes. Couldn't get em to shoot in any of my guns and even tried them in some buddy's guns....all shot terrible. JUst wondering if the new ones are that much better!

I used the originals before the IIs came out, using the same components and powder charge. When I switched to the IIs, a very minimal adjustment was required to restore zero. I took two elk with the originals: a 5x5 and 6x6. The 5x5 was shot at about 60 yds and ran downhill approximately 80 yds before piling up dead. The bullet hit on the point of the near shoulder and was found just under the skin on the far side. The 6x6 was shot in the lungs at about 160 yds and stood around long enough for me to put a second into the lungs. Neither bullet exited, but the mayhem in the chest cavity was pretty impressive. It was hard for me to tell much difference.
I use the 225 grain A-Frames in my .338 Win Mag and they do the job, as well.

I thought you guys might like to see these pics Water Jug Test 6.5mm 130 gr Swift Scirocco 3205 fps from a 264 Win Mag Retained weight 117.4 gr (90.3%) .630" in diameter Found in 5th jug I'm going to try the 180 gr Scirocco first in my 30-06 and I have a friend who is interested in trying the same bullet in his 300 Win Mag. Keep the reports coming!

Gerrygoat: Yes, thanks. That looks pretty good;the sectioned bullet looks a great deal like a Bitterroot.

Dang, now I like that. Much heavier jacket than I expected. And that 6.5mm carries a B.C. of like .583 or somewhere around that. Yep, looks like my load of choice when she gets built.

X2, please keep us informed on the progress of your build and testing it. I'm also building a .264 Win, just getting started. Being a lefty never helps but I found a SS M70 in .300 Win that's going to be the .264...Lilja barrel, etc. I'm like you: the Scirocco II 130 gr. should be verrrryyyy interesting to shoot; ditto for the TTSX 120 gr.. The TTSX should be out in about 10 days, according to Dave at Barnes. I'm thinking the Scirocco for deer and TTSX for antelope, but we'll see .

I have taken three animals with the 284-150 S2's. Impressive performance.
So far accuracy has escaped me in my preferred hunting rifle. On the other hand, the 284-140 A Frames have been one ragged hole accurate so I plan to use them for a while.

On the subject of scirroco IIs Bearstalker penned a hell of a read. Really enjoyed this man. Think you should do some touch ups and see if you can't get it published.

Re: DLP'd a Kodiak brown bear the other day [Re: ironbender] I just read the story, I had no idea that happened to you bearstalker, glad you and your buddy didn't get hurt. We had a grizzly come in on us when we were packing out my friends goat a couple of weeks before your encounter, after a standoff of a couple of minutes he left when the wind changed direction and he smelled where the kill site was. It was a close call. I'm sure the people at Swift would love to hear your story if you haven't told them yet.

I made up a dummy round this morning you can easily get under 2.8 " so you will have no problems. Can that bullet be stuffed into a 260 Remington and maintain OAL?
