Thanks. I really enjoy the 9.3X62. The 375 H&H was just too much of a good thing :^)

Nothing fancy, but both see a lot of use. Will be using both rifles on and off for spring bear. Come on spring! And hopefully Kodiak in the near future. wink

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

Here is my lastes, just picked this up from a member here. Herters FN action, chambered in .375/284. It has a 18" barrel, and a trigger I am not real wild about. Have not worked up any loads yet, but should shortly.

Here's my pre-64 Winchester 70 in 375 H&H

It has a Kollmorgen 4X32 scope on a Griffin & Howe quick release mount, when you slide it out you can put in the Lyman peep. This is one of my favourite rifles.

From factory, I had the dogleg bolt handle replaced. Also the trigger is a jaeggar (sp). when I got the action it was real clean, but holes drilled all over it. Had them filled in. Also with the straightened bottom metal, somebody cut the mag box in half instead of getting the right action screws.

replaced the magbox. also at some time, the ejector spring broke so a tab was welded on to force the ejector out. I replaced the ejector. Then I had the smith add the WWG peep sight. I had a sight that was made for a rem 870 and it fit the contour.

For the stock, I have a cheap piece of walnut to get me through til I can find a decent piece of wood.

I rate that as one of the finest looking rifles I've seen. Nice satin finish on the metal and a nice shaped stock, straight grain wood with mineral streaks, suberb finish and checkering. A good scope and mounts to match. 35 Whelen ..... you can walk the earth and hunt all over the world ..... there would be very few instances that a man would be under gunned with a 35 Whelen.

Ruger #1 45-70 Govt. (The stripe on the forearm is just sunlight through a chair, not a flaw in the wood).
