Put together with parts from fellow campfire members and advice from Lee (Redneck) my new - old pre 64 fwt '06 went to the range(beaverpond) today. Blue box 150's ran about 1 1/8" groups and 165 barnes x's averaged 3/4". Should be fun getting to know this old timer over the winter.
Thanks for the parts/help folks!

Well, I'm not particularly wild about M-70's, altho' there may be one or two hiding out in the shadowy recesses of my basement. smile

It is, however, refreshing to see something other than stainless steel, and recycled bowling balls for a change. smile If you enjoy it, then that's all that matters. Best of luck to you.... smile

Nice Ruger

Okay, so it's not a Ruger.

That is a very nice looking rifle. Hope it treats you well.

Terrific rifle. 3/4 inch with factory loaded TSX'S? That'll git 'er done for SURE! Congrats.

Very nice rifle, I have always though I should have something like that in a 270 Win. Just never got around to it yet.

I think I may be a certified loony as I like them all. Wood stock, "recycled bowling balls", standard blue, matte finish, rust blue, cerakote, teflon coat, mountain rifles, varmint rifles, tactical, "black" rifles, small bore, big bores. Bolt, pump, lever, semi auto, single shot, Rem, Win, Ruger, CZ custom. Did I leave anything out?

As long as I can take them hunting, I am happy.

I am getting a little more selective with age though. But I appreciate all of them.

I only like stainless for muzzleloaders. That's a great looking gun. Nearly all of mine are walnut & blued.

Handwerk and Redneck - Good job on a classic beauty! Redneck, every time I read your signature about TAX HELL WISCONSIN, I think "You should live in socialist Kalifornia if you don't like to pay taxes" Highest state income tax in the Country, ourageous property taxes and use taxes and we pay 8.75% sales tax here in Contra Costa County.

Sorry, did not mean to hijack this thread. Please post pictures of any critters you get!

Nice rifle! My pet for going on 20 years now is a pre-64 fwt 30-06.

It's favourite bullet was the 165 Hornady SP, until the 150 TSX came along. It loves that bullet over enough H4350 to get real close to 3000 fps.

Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!
