Reloading rifle rounds still saves money. Handgun ammo - not so much. I can buy a 100rd Win. white box of 40S&W at Walmart for less than 1/2 of what it would cost to buy the componants thru Midway.

So while my 550B sits idle, I'm buying 40's and 9's at Walmart.

Winchester white box 100 rd paks at Walmart is about the cheapest centerfire pistol ammo you will find.

I am really happy that I got into reloading over 30 years ago, including casting my bullets. I have several hundred pounds of wheel weights that I got free, have scrounged brass forever. I am sure I have all the brass I will ever need. I am in pretty good shape on powder and primers also.
I would estimate that the average load cost me about 3 cents.

When you get into reloading the larger handgun calibers (.44 mag on up), you most certainly save money rolling our own. Price specialty ammo in .475 Linebaugh, and you will see that you wll save a bundle.

Again, if you want to stock up on ammo for a defensive piece, go to a gun show.......JMHO
