Just wondering if anybody had scoped a Pre-War Model 70 that hadn't had the rear bridge Drilled & Tapped. I know that scope mounts were made in the early Model 70 era that used the forward holes and the two holes on the left side of the receiver for the pre-war rifles that weren't D&T on the rear bridge.
Any input is appreciated.

Thanks, Jim. I'd love to see a picture of the rig or anybody else's for that matter. I suppose nobody is making any mounts these days for that set-up, and I was wondering what to look for in the vintage line.
I don't have a pre-war with an un-drilled rear bridge, but have seen them and was wondering what the options were for scoping one these days. I don't any of the Model 70 reference books, but am going by a couple old gun books and articles I have and what I've seen on the net. I read that Stith and Herters offered such rigs many years ago, and of course Griffin & Howe side mounts appear to have been popular on the pre-wars.
Thanks again for any input.

G&H made (still does) a side mount for the Model 70 and the 98 Mauser.
Paul Jaeger also made a side mount. It is still made by NECG.
Williams made a side mount with the scope mounted low on a sturdy hinge, so it could be swung out of the way to use iron sights. In those days, most scopes were fixed power, and might be 6, 8 or 10x.
Do you want some photos?

Have the rear of the receiver drilled and tapped with a single hole. I did. I use an older Redfield one piece mount. No problem.

Blasphemy. Should be flogged for doing such a thing if the receiver was original.

I respectfully disagree. The model 70's, 1899's and others got drilled an tapped because they were being used by folks that already had the best rifles and wanted to use the best sights.
I didn't have to drill holes in mine..
My pre-war 30 Govt '06 Standard Grade came with enough holes in it that I could have mounted anything I wanted. Including a couple of different side mounts.
It still had Weaver pivot mounts an a Bushnell with the dot reticle in it when I bought it thirty years ago.
I gave the Bushnell to a friend for a backup on his 300 H&H Super Grade.
