Not for legal purposes or anything. But, for example in a bolt action rifle, is the measurement taken from where the barrel meets the action?

What about a break type shotgun? Thanks.

True for all firearms, excepting revolvers - where barrel length is measured from the forward face of the cylinder to the muzzle.
