Was it ever made?

I can't say from a point of actually seeing one but they chambered the Ruger #1 stainless/Laminate in 7MM STW. I see no reason why the 338 WM wouldn't be there as well!!!

I retrieved my file of old Ruger catalogs in response to your query. The short answer is NO!

As I'm sure you know, The K1-BZ (Stainless #1-B) first appeared in 2001. It was cataloged in .243 Win, .25-06, .270 Win, 7mm Rem Mag, 7mm STW, .30-06, .308 Win, and .300 Win Mag. Thus I can tell you it was certainly never catalogued! (BTW... the 1-S model was never made in SS except in the .45-70..)

However as you know, some distributers are known to comission special runs. That said, I've never seen one. But I did see a K1-BZ in 7mm-08.

If I may be so bold as to ask.... What is this fascination with SS?

I have always like the intrinsic beauty of laminated stocks, but in reality they are too heavy to be practical on a #1 that is already too heavy to hunt with as it is... Just idle thoughts from a mostly idle mind. ..

No fascination. Actually, I have little to no interest in it, especially on a classy looking single like a Ruger #1. That's the main reason I didn't know myself. I'm afraid I'll always be a fine walnut/blued steel guy no matter how inpractical that may be. blush

A friend was inquiring and I thought I'd ask here as you guys know more about the #1's than anybody I know.

As always, thank you for sharing your knowledge on #1's!
