I was looking into a 1892 Rossi in 45 colt pre-safety model.

How well made of a rifle are these?

Any problems?

Good, bad?

THanks

I have one in 357 & have nothing but good to say about them. I have shot a bunch of other guys guns at the range in different calibres & was impressed every time.
Mines an EMF Rossi, but they all (EMF, Navy Arms & Puma) Seem about the same. The Navy arms has walnut while mine & the Puma too I think have some kinda Brazilian hardwood.
The Puma is the only one I'v seen with a saftey.
Mine feeds 38 & 357 both flawless so far with round nose, hollowpoint, semiwadcutters, lead, jacketed anything but wadcutters seated flush. Those are a single shot proposition but real acurate. I can get under an inch if I try real hard at 50 yards with 38's or 357 with ammo it likes with the factory sights. Never shot at paper at 100 yards with it so I cant say how it groups, but I can hit one litre bottles offhand most times at that range. I like it, its an accurate reliable gun & I never once regreted buying it.
Only thing they could do to improve it in my mind would be to drill & tap the side for a reciever sight. The tang on mine is drilled & tapped for a tang sight but their not my cup of tea.

marlinlover,

I'd second the previous remarks. I have an Interarms import pre-safety model in .357 and love it. It's become my plinking rifle and I've put a lot of rounds through it (estimate 5,000 rounds). It's not uncommon for me to put 100 rounds through it during my monthly trip to the range. Couldn't get it to shoot cast bullets very well, but I gave up without pursuing that too aggressively. It will put jacketed rounds into a 5" circle at 100 yards, which is about as good as I'll get offhand using open sights. It handles nice and makes for a nice snap shooter. I wish I'd picked up one in 45 Colt.

THanks for the replies all...!

I fell in love with a Winchester this weekend and had to have it!

It's a model 94 AE 100 Aniversary Wrangler 1894-1994 Carbine in 45 Colt. It's in damn near perfect condition with a saddle ring, and a cattle brand in the wood stock. The wood is about the nicest I've ever seen on a Winchester, I'd say definitely fancy- AA.

I got it for $145 more than I was going to pay for a nice used Rossi, but it just rocked my world when I saw it. Very seldom does that happen... I just had to have it....... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
