My job keeps me tied up during our local deer season. I get to hunt an hour here and there, but would like to find a place where I can spend several days devoted to hunting. Does anyone know of a site where the deer seasons for each state and province are printed? Or a magazine that compiles this info?

Here in BC, deer season starts on Aug 23 with archery for two weeks then gun/archery season goes to Dec 10th. It varies a little depending on what region.

The only exception to that is if you want to hunt Sitka BT on Queen Charlotte Islands, where the season goes from June 1st to Feb 28th and you can shoot 15 of them. They avg about 100 lbs live weight, so you need a few of them to fill the freezer.

The only thing is you need a guide to hunt in BC, unless you have direct relatives living here.

Cheers

If you shoot it on your own, they will cook it
If you don't, they will feed you something they shot.

I don't know of a site that has the info you are looking for...

But here in Alabama, bow season starts in early October and rifle season ends January 31st.

Alabama & Texas have deer seasons well into late Jan. Arizona has a late Coues Deer season. There are probably others. Just go to the F&G section on the bottom of page for more info. Good hunting.

For a good part of Alaska, you can hunt deer from August through december.

The "Lowcountry" of South Carolina has the longest, most liberal deer seasons in the country.
Aug 15th-Jan 1st. No limit on bucks and you can kill somewhere around 25 does with the doe days and individual tags.

That's going to be a hard one to compile in a way that folks can make sense of it, because every state looks at it a little differently. Take the concept of "Modern Weapons Season." KY means any centerfire rifle or pistol. Ohio means shotgun, ML, and a few select handguns. Archery? KY means just traditional and compound bow. OH includes crossbow.

However, Buckmasters has a page with all states' links:

Thanks guys! The Campfire F&G page and Buckmasters hunting season page offer good starting places. I have plenty of research to do this winter.

I quickly settled on the Adirondacks, with their mid-late October gun season opener. I called a cousin to try and convince him to join me. Turns out that he has hunted and camped there for several years and he and a brother were talking about going this fall. Looks like a family reunion in NY.

New Yorks muzzleloader season started 10-12 the past year, with rifle season for the adk region following a week later. great fall weather, grouse season is also open, and scads of access up there! You may even stumble into a bear. Have fun! maybe see ya there!
