I would appreciate someone's posting the address, phone or website of any U.S. mailorder outlets for Koflach boots.

I have 40+ yrs. mountain experience in B.C. and Alberta and have worn out 20+ pair of high end boots. I have also sold and fitted mountaineering boots for a living; that is about the best advice on boots I have seen on this or any other forum, period. For those interested in really fine and fairly priced boots, leather that is, I strongly recommend Viberg Boots in Victoria, B.C., www.workboot.com, and Charles Van Gorkum, www.hikingbootshandcrafted.com. These folks make superb boots that will work in the toughest conditions and last.

I respect Cabelas very much and deal with them, I agree with the statement concerning the boots they sell; they are not built for serious mountain hunting. Boots are one item of gear where spending the money and getting the best is really a good idea, I learned the hard way.

I have used both leather and plastic boots for Sheep and Goats and came to the conclusion that high quality rigid leather boots work best. Plastics are great for side hilling, especially in slides but are also very hard on your knees when on flat ground which is where you will be more often than not. I also have several friends who ahave been guiding Sheep and Goats for years who have been wearing the Cabela's Canada model since they came out and won't switch. Ditto on Art's use of beeswax or one of its beeswax based counterparts.
