Does anyone have access to the article by Colonel Townsend Whelen about his cartridge the 400 Whelen?

It was published in the American Rifleman in the April issue of 1927.

I've been dying to read this (I've had a 400 Whelen for a few years now), but I've been unable to obtain a copy.

Thanks in advance,

Garrett

I got the 1936 article by Elmer Keith and it refered to April 15 1924 American Rifleman. I haven't been able to get it, tried on E-Bay but was outbid. Let me know if you want the 1936 article.

May be a dumb question but has anyone contacted the NRA? I assume they have all of the issues on file somewhere.

Neal,

Thanks, I have a copy of Keith's writings on the 400 Whelen too.
He often referred to it (at least prior to WWII period) as his "favorite" cartridge, but the more stuff I read by him, the more often I saw him name other rounds as his "favorite" cartridge. I've had the same problem with "favorite" girls.

Neal, do you think that the 1924 date Keith alludes to is a mistake (he made lots and lots of typo's in his articles...the editors all complained about dealing with his writing)?
I ask because I believe Col. Whelen credited a 1926 date as to when he loaded and shot the first rifle (although of course it was some months in the making before that).

Contacting the NRA is the next step (I'm a lifetime memeber like most of you here).
So many of these articles are now in PDF format, that sometimes asking here on a forum lets me find the article in a few short hours.

Thanks again,

Garrett

I wish they would re-run some of the old classics. I just signed wifey up for a life membership and she'll be getting American Rifleman.
